Emirates Stadium boss ready to splash the cash.
Arsenal could turn their attention to Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue – if they fail to land top transfer target Yann M’Vila.
The Gunners have been on the trail of the Rennes ace for some time and Arsene Wenger is confident of landing the French international ahead of Manchester United.
But if the move for M’Vila falls through they will instead look to sign Capoue, who is being tracked by a host of European clubs, including Barcelona.
There is a great deal of speculation that Arsenal are looking to bring more steel to help protect their more creative midfielders and given that Alex Song appears to be evolving into a more rounded player, notching up 14 assists this term, a move for a new defensive midfielder would make a great deal of sense.
£8m rated 23 year old Etienne Capoue has been very impressive this term and may well have outgrown his Toulouse side and could be a cheaper option for the Gunners to pursue that long term target Yann M’Vila.
Capoue is yet to secure a senior French national team cap but has represented the Under 21’s and is on the fringes of Laurent Blanc’s squad.
