Harry Redknapp has recently admitted that Mexico midfielder Giovani Dos Santos is set to leave the White Hart Lane outfit this summer, following a disappointing spell at the north London side…
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp expects Giovani Dos Santos to leave at the end of the season, but concedes they are unlikely to get the £13million that Udinese offered for the Mexican last summer.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has recently admitted Mexico striker Giovani Dos Santos could be shown the White Hart Lane exit door this summer.
The 22-year-old is highly regarded in Mexico but has struggled to reproduce his international form for Tottenham since his 2008 move from Spanish giants Barcelona.
Dos Santos’ current deal is set to expire at the end of next season, and with Redknapp keen on bringing in more talent this summer, he knows that funds could be released by selling the Mexico international.
“Gio is a good player and is a good lad. He has good ability but in the end his contract is gradually running out so I don’t know what you’d get for him in the end,” said Redknapp.
“He is on the bench, he has got great ability, we nearly sold him at the start of the season for £13m to Udinese.”
“The chairman of Udinese came over and had a chat with the chairman and he wouldn’t go and that was a lot of money.
“I don’t think he wants to sign a new one [contract] so I think the £13m would have been a good deal.”
Dos Santos has already been capped by his native Mexico on over 50 occasions, scoring an impressive 11 goals along the way.
