Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen has enjoyed his most successful season in the Netherlands, and is now regarded as one of the best defenders in the league.
The £10m rated Belgium international has recently admitted that a summer move to Arsenal could be on the cards, after seeing the success that fellow international teammate Thomas Vermaelen has enjoyed during his short time with the Gunners.
However, according to reports in Holland, Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has sent scouts to several Ajax games this season and is keen to wrap up a deal to take the defender to White Hart Lane, with the hope that he can provide the lure of Champions League football. And a move to the Premier League looks increasingly likely, with his agent recently saying:
‘Jan has some dream clubs, which are special for him,’ according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf.
Manchester United and Manchester City have also taken a look at the Ajax captain, with his main priority to sign for a club in the Champions League.
The 24 year-old has been capped for Belgium 36 times, with two international goals to his name.
