England snub puts Redknapp back in the frame for Chelsea hot seat
Chelsea could revive their interest in Harry Redknapp after the Spurs boss was surprisingly snubbed by England.
Redknapp was one of the names in contention for a call from Roman Abramovich following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas in March.
Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola and former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho are also on the shortlist.
But with Guardiola insisting on taking a break from football and Mourinho having unfinished business at Real Madrid, Chelsea are now considering their options.

One wonders where ‘interim’ boss Roberto Di Matteo fits into all of this. Surely he’s done enough to prove he is worthy of taking the job on a permanent basis but perhaps Avram Grant felt the same after he guided Chelsea to a Champions League final and a runners-up spot in the Premier League.
Of the three named only Pep Guardiola is currently out of work but given that the Spaniard has cited ‘needing a break’ as the main reason he left the Nou Camp any move to take over at a new club in the next year would not go down all that well with his former club and the Barcelona fans as a whole.
Harry Redknapp may be amenable to such a move if Tottenham fail to secure a Champions League spot for next season and the former Portsmouth and Southampton manager clearly would have no qualms about making a contentious switch from White Hart Lane to Stamford Bridge.
Jose Mourinho’s return to the Blues would seem the least likely given the successful campaign Real Madrid are having.
Chelsea fans, who do you want to see named as a permanent successor to Andre Villas-Boas?
