Recent reports coming from Italy are linking Juventus legend Del Piero with a summer move to the Premier League.

The club’s all time leading goalscorer has endured a frustrating season at Juventus. And with his contract set to expire this year, it’s thought that the Italy international is keen for a move away from the bianconeri’s in order to experience playing in a different European league.

And despite producing some impressive displays in recent weeks – including stunning strikes against Inter Milan and the winner against sixth place Lazio – the Italian’s first team opportunities this season have been limited.

With the door open for a summer exit, many Premier League clubs have been put on red alert. Despite Piero’s age, it’s believed that he still has what it takes to perform at the highest level.

Recent reports have linked the Juve man to Newcastle, with boss Alan Pardew apparently an admirer of the forward. However, in a significant turn of events, it is believed that the player is now hot on the radar of north London side Spurs.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will be looking to bring in a proven goal scorer next season; a goalscorer who has the ability to come off the bench and change a game. Spurs have lacked strength in depth up front this season, with Adebeyor going off the boil and Defoe often being overlooked.

While other clubs have moved legendary players upstairs or allowed them to retire, Del Piero, who joined Juve from Padova in 1993, will leave the club with which he is synonymous when his deal ends in June.
