Reports in this morning’s Daily Mail suggest that Manchester United could be ready to table a £25m bid in an attempt to lure Porto winger James Rodriguez to Old Trafford.
Sir Alex Ferguson will be keen to bolster his squad this summer following the club’s recent defeat to Manchester City, and in doing so face the possibility of finishing second in the league behind their fierce rivals.
United’s midfield were outclassed when they played City on Monday night, leading to suggestions that Ferguson will need to bring in at least two midfield players this summer if they’re to realistically challenge City next season – with the Old Trafford side crying out for some creativity in attacking areas.
And the pacey Colombian has already admitted that he would be partial to a Manchester United move, with reports coming out of Portugal stating Sir Alex Ferguson could sell former Porto midfielder Anderson to fund the move.
Anderson, 24, has missed the majority of the season due to an injury, and Ferguson now appears ready to cut his losses on a player signed for £18m in 2007.
Rodriguez, 20, has scored 19 goals in 66 appearances for Porto and has been capped by his native Colombia on four occasions.
