Bernabeu giants keen on Emirates Stadium duo.
Song and Vermaelen top Mourinho’s wishlist as Real plot summer swoop
Real Madrid are plotting a double raid on Arsenal with summer bids for Alex Song and Thomas Vermaelen.
Having secured the La Liga title on Wednesday, Jose Mourinho has turned his attentions to next season and sees Song as the ideal midfield general.
Vermaelen has also emerged as a target for the Spanish giants.

Whilst a run of good form has seen Arsenal’s torrid start to the season canceled out as they push for a top four finish Arsene Wenger would surely still fear that this talented pair would be tempted by a move to the Bernabeu. Spanish giants Real Madrid are clearly a big draw and given that the Gunners have just completed seven seasons without silverware that pull may be hard to ignore.
Mourinho apparently sees Thomas Vermaelen as a possible long term successor to Ricardo Carvalho and may feel that Alex Song is a better enforcer option than both Sami Khedira and Lassana Diarra. PSG are also said to be tracking the Cameroon international who this season has added more guile to his game and has notched up 14 assists during the current campaign.
Arsene Wenger will look to bring in some big signings this summer in order to prove to his current star performers that the club has the ambition, and spending power, to challenge for major honours. Having already nabbed Lukas Podolski from Koln the Emirates Stadium boss is now said to be lining up a bid for Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen.
Will these moves stop this pair from considering their options?
