Marouane Chamakh and Ju-Young Park nearing Arsenal exits
Arsene Wenger has hinted he plans to offload Marouane Chamakh and Ju-Young Park in the summer, after Arsenal agreed a deal to sign Lukas Podolski.
Chamakh has started just one Premier League game this season, while Park’s only league appearance was from the bench.
The forward pair look likely to have even fewer opportunities if they stay at the Emirates Stadium next term, with Germany international Podolski set to partner Robin van Persie up front.
As well as the pair named by this source there is growing speculation that Arsene Wenger will elect to offload loaned out strike pair Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela, who are currently at Sunderland and Real Sociedad respectively. The arrival of Lukas Podolski gives the Gunners boss a new attacking outlet and one the Frenchman hopes will provide the type of able support to Robin Van Persie that his current crop has failed to offer.
Marouane Chamakh has warmed the bench for most of this term after suffering an alarming drop in form following a decent first three months at the club last term. A move back to Ligue 1 for the former Bordeaux man is a distinct possibility.
Park Chu-Young has barely got a look in since his move from Monaco and the South Korean may well be offloaded as a result of being unable to impress Wenger.
Nicklas Bendtner has scored eight Premier League goals in 25 starts for the Black Cats but the jury is still out on whether Martin O’Neill will fork out the rumoured £8m or so that the North London club wants for the Danish international, and indeed a good Euro 2012 could lead to that valuation increasing.
Carlos Vela has been in a rich vein of form at Real Sociedad, netting 12 La Liga goals this term and the Spanish side may opt to make the Mexican’s temporary move a permanent one this summer.
