Bulgarian international in talks to move to Stadio Olimpico side.
Lazio are launching a move for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
Corriere dello Sport says a meeting between Lazio representatives and agent Emil Dantchev has already been held.
Aged 31, Berbatov still has one year left to run on his Manchester United contract, but is not expected to stay at Old Trafford for the duration.
Therefore Lazio might be able to clinch a sale for just €5m.
If Lazio snap up a striker for Dimitar Berbatov’s quality for just £4m then that would represent one hell of a bargain. Even though the 31 year old Man United man has only been a bit part player this term he is still very much in form having finished last term as the Premier League’s joint top scorer and netted seven goals from just 11 Premier League appearances, only five of which were starts.
Berbatov would join Miroslav Klose at the Stadio Olimpico, and the German international has seen his club career resurrected since his move from Bayern Munich with the Polish born striker 16 goals in all competitions thus far this term.
Lazio have an outside shot at securing a Champions League spot for next term and one imagines that if the Rome based side manages a top three finish in Serie A then Berbatov will be all the more happy to sign on the dotted line.
