The full scale of the crisis engulfing the club was highlighted when Record Sport learned talisman Naismith could be the first of seven star players to be lured away for a knockdown price. Former Rangers striker Nikica Jelavic has urged Everton boss Davie Moyes to land Naismith for a £2m snip.
Moyes has already held discussions with Jelavic and former Rangers skipper Davie Weir about launching a raid on Rangers for the Scotland man when the transfer window opens for business on June 1.
And Jelavic – who has been a smash hit in the Premier League since swapping Govan for Goodison in January – has pleaded with Moyes to reunite him with his former strike partner who, as we revealed yesterday, is one of seven star names in Ally McCoist’s first-team squad available on the cheap.

Given the predicament Rangers find themselves in there is a fairly good chance that all the top talent in Ally McCoist’s Ibrox squad could under threat from clubs circling, looking for a bargain. Everton did a great bit of business bringing Nikica Jelavic to Goodison Park and David Moyes calculated risk to sign the Croatian in the hope he could replicate his SPL scoring form in the Premier League has certainly paid off.
The 26 year old finished as Everton’s top scorer with 11 goals last term despite only playing 16 games for the Toffees and Moyes may feel he could bring in Steven Naismith as a possible strike partner for Jelavic.
Naismith netted nine goals in 15 appearances and managed 15 goals in the previous campaign, decent totals for a player who often plays as a second striker for Rangers. McCoist could struggle to prevent a mass exodus when the transfer window re-opens next month.
Everton could well do with additional attacking options, not least because loaned out striker Louis Saha may look to make his temporary move to Tottenham a permanent one this summer.
