Nolito remains on Liverpool’s radar but his agent insists there has been no concrete offers for the Benfica ace.
The 25-year-old joined from Barcelona last summer and has impressed during his first season in Portugal.
His impressive form has alerted a string of clubs across Europe and Liverpool are reportedly among them.
Nolito may well be just the ticket as Liverpool look to improve on the wingers currently plying their trade for the Anfield side. Summer signings Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson both failed to impress last term and the collective £40m+ spent on their services probably didn’t help Kenny Dalglish to keep his job and now the manager-less club is said to be ready to re-ignite their interest in the Benfica winger.
Nolito has had a great first season the Estadio da Luz, notching up 15 goals in 48 appearances as he helped his Lisbon side to mount a serious challenge to FC Porto’s domestic dominance as well as a handy Champions League run, during which the Spaniard scored three goals.
Liverpool may well feel they need to add more goal-scoring and assist making options to a squad that managed just 47 goals in the Premier League last season and given that Downing managed no goals and fairly few assists the England man may be more likely to make way for Nolito, who can also play in an orthodox striking role so may also be considered as a potential strike partner for Luis Suarez.
The Daily Mail reported last month that Merseyside club were ready to make a £15m move for the in-form wide-man and that could well be money well spent but a lot could of course depend on the incoming manager who takes over from Dalglish in the hot-seat.
