Michael Owen has hinted that he would consider a move to Southampton after publicly replying to Matt Le Tissier’s ‘offer’.
The 32-year-old striker failed to win a new contract with Manchester United and is now looking for a new club but is determined to stay in the Premier League.
So maybe this could work well for all concerned. One small obstacle could be the 32 year old’s wage demands which would surely exceed those of any player currently employed by the South-Coast club. Having secured back to back promotions Southampton are back in the English top tier for the first time in seven years.
Owen’s career has been blighted by injuries in recent years and Sir Alex Ferguson elected to not renew the former England man’s contract and he is therefore free to move for nothing.
Former Saints hero Matt Le Tissier maintains close relationships with his former club and his assistance could well pave the way for a historic first transfer sparked via Twitter.
