Madrid set to swoop for Modric as Tottenham miss out on Champions League
Real Madrid will take advantage of Tottenham missing out on the Champions League by bidding for Luka Modric.
The Spanish champions are reportedly preparing an offer of £25million for the Croatian star.
Madrid will fund the move by offloading Kaka to Paris Saint-Germain.

This was always the fear that Tottenham had to brace themselves for, knowing that finishing fourth left their hopes balancing on a Chelsea defeat in Munich that sadly for White Hart Lane supporters never arrived.
Now Harry Redknapp and chairman Daniel Levy will have to persuade their top performers that Tottenham are still on an upward progression and that they still have the ambition to challenge for major honours. It probably doesn’t help that for almost half the campaign the North London club were challenging for the title but a slump in form cost them dearly.
Luka Modric may well be tempted by a move to Real Madrid but as Levy will point out, the Croatian is tied down to a long term contract and the fear is that any sale could lead to a domino effect that leads other players to believe that Spurs are a ‘selling-club’.
Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart may also find themselves subject to interest from Europe’s elite and the coming summer promises to be a hugely important one.
Some blamed the loss of form on the linking of Redknapp to the then vacant England job post but that seems a fairly unfounded claim but one thing is for sure, Daniel Levy needs to make sure he keeps his manager as he has been the catalyst for a real change in fortune since he took over from Juande Ramos back in 2008.
Jose Mourinho may feel that the addition of a schemer like Modric could further improve his midfield and the sale of Kaka could well cover any significant bid for the 26 year old.
