‘Unsackable’ Kean loses his job but stays at Blackburn after Venkys showdown talks
Steve Kean, the man said to be unsackable when appointed Blackburn’s manager in January 2011, looks to have paid for Rovers’ relegation from the Premier League, according to sources in Pune and at Ewood Park.
The club’s Indian owners, the chicken conglomerate Venky’s, have finally decided to remove him as manager, although he will stay at the club in a different role and on the same salary he was paid as he oversaw Blackburn’s drop to the Championship.
The decision to get rid of Kean as manager will be greeted with mixed emotions by many supporters, who feel the Scot symbolises the problems of their club.

This is perhaps a fitting conclusion to what has been a very embarrassing long running saga. For Blackburn Rovers owners’ Venky’s to finally get around to axing Steve Kean, only to then move him to another post at Ewood Park, on the same salary, is quite frankly laughable.
One wonders just what position the Glasgow born employee will now serve in. Perhaps this is a clever way to avoid having to pay any compensation to the woeful manager?
Steve Kean has managed 17 wins and 35 defeats in the 66 games he has presided as boss of the Lancashire club, helping them to relegation to the Championship bringing to an end 11 years in the top flight.
