Well respected Italian media outlet Gazzetto dello Sport believe that Inter Milan are willing to offer experienced Brazilian international in exchange for out of favour Man City midfielder Nigel de Jong, a deal that would surely interest former San Siro boss Roberto Mancini.
Dutch enforcer De Jong found himself a bit part player as Man City secured their first domestic title in over 40 years and the 27 year old midfielder may well be tempted by the possibility of a fresh start in Italy. Mancini’s tactical shift to a move attacking style of play meant that he had no room for the former Hamburg and Ajax man, preferring instead to play Gareth Barry and Yaya Toure as a central midfield pair, freeing up room for David Silva in a floating role.
Right back duties in the City defence were shared by Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta and both had a part to play in the title triumph but Mancini may find it hard to resist the possible addition of Brazilian Maicon. The 30 year old Inter Milan man has at times in his career been considered one of the best in the business and the Italian knows the player well from his time in charge of Inter Milan and could perhaps convince the attack minded full back to move to the Etihad Stadium.
