Arsenal are ready to pounce for Chelsea attacker Salomon Kalou.
The Champions League winner comes off contract next month and yet to agree on new terms with Chelsea.
The Mirror says Arsenal hope to snap up Kalou on a Bosman.
Arsene Wenger has long been linked with Salomon Kalou, ever since the Frenchman sung the Ivory Coast international’s praises some years ago and now that the 26 year old can be picked up for nothing a move may well finally come to fruition.
Though the Gunners boss has just brought in Lukas Podolski to bolster the Arsenal attack the North London club could well do with further additions on this front and a player of Kalou’s adaptability may well be right up Arsene Wenger’s street. The former Feyenoord man has racked up almost 250 appearances for the Blues since his move to Stamford Bridge back in May 2006.
Kalou has battled manfully to persuade a number of managers that he is worthy of a regular first team spot but has never managed to put together a decent run in the starting eleven though he did certainly get more of a chance to impress under interim boss Roberto Di Matteo.
Given that the likes of Marouane Chamakh, Gervinho, Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela and Park Chu-Young have all struggled to make an impact Kalou could be an intelligent, cost effective, option to bring in this summer to help to share Robin Van Persie’s goal-scoring burden.
