The Magpies have had a good success rate when it comes to signing players based in Ligue in recent seasons with the likes of Yohan Cabaye and Hatem Ben Arfa both making an impact at St James’ Park. The capture of Amalfitano is another excellent, and cost effective, bit of business that helps to add more strength in depth to a side that last season overcame the odds to seal a fifth place finish.
Pardew has been operated on a strict budget even though over the past 18 months he has lost first teamers Andy Carroll, Joey Barton, Jose Enrique and Kevin Nolan but the Newcastle United boss has worked wonders in the transfer market to help the North-East side to move up the table.
The 22 year old Nice born midfielder helped his Reims side to promotion to the French top tier last season and previously had a season at Evian.
