Chelsea are considering a swap offer for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini.
Belgian sources say Chelsea will offer Romelu Lukaku in negotiations for Fellaini when the summer market opens.
Blues owner Roman Abramovich is a big fan of Fellaini and hopes to tempt Everton into parting with the midfielder by offering Lukaku in part exchange.
As with every opening of a transfer window, there is growing speculation that circling vultures will take advantage of Everton’s ongoing financial problems and David Moyes will once again try to fight off prospective suitors from his top performers.
The addition of Romelu Lukaku would have appeared an excellent suggestion 12 months ago but if anything the Belgian youngster’s stock has fallen since he moved to Chelsea. Whilst it’s true that the teenager has barely had a look in it’s also true that when the powerful forward has been given a chance to impress he has on the whole disappointed.
In 12 appearances for the Blues the former Anderlecht man is still to register his first Chelsea goal, albeit he’s only made four starts one would have hoped for more from a player who was deemed one of the hottest young talents in Europe prior to his £18m move to West London.
Fellaini on the other hand had perhaps his most consistent season thus far at Everton and is a player that Moyes would be loathed to lose but the simple fact is that if the battling midfielder signaled his interest in moving to Chelsea there would be little the Toffees boss could do other than ask to get a good price for the Belgian international, such are the constraints imposed upon the Scot.
