Roberto Martinez given Liverpool deadline by Wigan
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan is planning to set a deadline for Roberto Martinez to decide whether he will stay as boss.
Martinez has been given permission to speak with Liverpool about the vacant managerial position at Anfield.
The Spaniard has also been linked with taking over at Aston Villa, the club he turned down last year.
“Roberto will be in Barbados until next Tuesday, and I will then set a seven-day deadline by which time I will expect a decision,” said Whelan.

It’s understandable that Dave Whelan looks for clarification from Roberto Martinez in relation to the growing speculation that the Spaniard may well be subject to a formal approach from either Aston Villa or Liverpool in relation to filling their respective vacant posts.
Talk of Martinez’s future has somewhat overshadowed the miraculous form displayed by Wigan over the final weeks of the season that helped to secure another season of Premier League football for the Greater Manchester side.
Wigan won seven of their last nine Premier League games to secure a 15th place finish, some seven points from the drop zone.
The 38 year old will now have to consider his options ahead of a possible approaches for his services. Clearly a problem could arise if the former Swansea City manager does state his intention to consider other offers only for said offers to not materialize.
