DIMITAR BERBATOV is closing in on a summer switch to Paris Saint Germain.
He’s desperate to quit Manchester United after falling down the pecking order.
Berbatov has opened talks with Carlo Ancelotti’s big spenders.
Ancelotti is a huge admirer of the 31-year-old and reckons his experience could be vital in the Champions League next season.
The Qatar-owned outfit have millions at their disposal and Berbatov’s valuation of around £7m is well within budget.
Ancelotti can match Berbatov’s £90,000-a-week wages too and could even agree to a pay rise to land him.

One can hardly blame Dimitar Berbatov for wanting to quit Old Trafford. When the Bulgarian international first arrived in a club record breaking £30.75m deal from Tottenham many questioned Sir Alex Ferguson’s purchase and the intelligent forward didn’t cover himself in glory in his first two seasons at the club, scoring infrequently and at times cutting a forlorn figure on the field of play.
Then in 2010/11 he got his scoring boots on, finished joint top scorer in the Premier League and was unfairly rewarded by being dropped for the Champions League Final at Wembley against Barcelona. It was a bitter pill to swallow. Last term things went from bad to worse.
The 31 year old was handed just five top tier starts as he slipped down the pecking order below Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck. Over the past few months it has become clear that the Man United bench warmer wanted out and this offer seems to be a very worthwhile one for all concerned.
If Ferguson can pick up £7m for a player with just a year left on his current contract then he would surely take the money and run. Dimitar Berbatov in return gets the chance to re-ignite a career that was stagnating at Man United, Ancelotti gets an in-form striker, 28 goals in his last 29 Premier League starts, and everyone is seemingly a winner.
