Uzbekistan Captain Odil Ahmedov has opened the door to a move to any club in England or Spain but says he is especially attracted to Arsenal, according to ESPN Soccernet.
The tough-tackling midfielder currently plays for oil-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala, where he is managed by former-Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink and plays alongside Samuel Eto’o. Ahmedov has impressed in his 43 appearances this season and was voted the club’s player of the year, ahead of established stars like Eto’o and Yuri Khirkov. The 24-year-old was linked to Arsenal last year and The Gunners’ interest has resurfaced as boss Arsene Wenger looks to address his side’s soft centre.
“Of course I am very happy at Anzhi,” said Ahmedov. “This club has a great future. But I would like to try in England or Spain. All clubs in Spain and England are wonderful but I would like to play for Arsenal.”
Ahmedov, who has 44 caps for Uzbekistan, joined Anzhi in June 2011 from Ukbekistani club Pakhtakor Tashkent.
