Barcelona will battle fierce rivals Real Madrid for the signature of Branislav Ivanovic, as Chelsea brace themselves for a bidding war for the versatile defender.
The Catalan giants have enquired about the Serbian international, who was imperious as the Blues claimed a draw at the Nou Camp in the Champions League semi-final, according to The Daily Mail.
Ivanovic has admitted he is aware of interest from Real – who value him at £15 million – but is happy at Stamford Bridge for now.
Barcelona want to add steel and versatility to their back four, after finishing nine points adrift of Real in La Liga. They have turned to Ivanovic after primary target Thiago Silva indicated he is likely to stay in Italy with AC Milan.
Mega-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are also interested in the 29-year-old but Chelsea are not prepared to let him go cheaply. The European Champions want at least £23 million for the uncompromising defender.
