Hazard picks Chelsea: Lille playmaker snubs United and City
Abramovich has sanctioned a bumper £32million five-year deal that will pay the in-demand Belgian star £4.8m per season
Eden Hazard has delivered a crushing blow to Manchester City and Manchester United by announcing he is joining Chelsea.
The European champions were contesting with Premier League’s big two to sign the 21-year-old left-sider.
But after weeks of titillation and game-playing on Twitter, the Belgian prodigy has finally confirmed he is leaving Lille to become part of the next stage of the Chelsea revolution.
Hazard tweeted: “I’m signing for the Champions League winner.”

So thank god that’s all over. Eden Hazard has been the ultimate tease during this long running transfer saga, often using post-match interviews and his Twitter account to increase speculation about his future. The 21 year old had stated some weeks ago that he wanted to leave Lille and followed that claim by confirming that any move would be to the Premier League.
He announced publicly that he would reveal the team he had chosen to sign for after the final game of the season, during which Hazard netted a hat-trick as Lille thrashed Nancy. Yesterday morning he stated that he had ‘made up his mind’ and then signed off Twitter for a number of hours leaving many to guess where the Belgian international would end up.
He then finally put an end to the suffering by stating that he had signed for the Champions League winners and now this source states that a £32m deal has been signed and that Roman Abramovich finally has his man. The youngster appears to have turned down interest from Man City and Man United in preference for the West London side who appear to be looking to reverse the ageing nature of their squad.
Hazard netted 15 goals and provided 20 assists last season and the campaign prior to that he pretty much led Lille to their first Ligue 1 title in over 50 years. Rudi Garcia has found it hard to retain any of his prized assets with both Yohan Cabaye and Gervinho heading for Newcastle United & Arsenal respectively and Moussa Sow leaving for Turkey.
Chelsea are likely to lose Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou as both players see their contracts run out this summer.
