Van der Vaart tempted to swap Spurs for Schalke in £10m deal to help out wife Sylvie
Rafael van der Vaart looks to be heading out of White Hart Lane after Schalke launched a £10million-plus move for Tottenham’s attacking midfielder.
Sportsmail understands there has already been contact between Schalke and van der Vaart’s representatives and that the 29-year old would welcome the prospect of a fresh start in the Bundesliga, for personal as well as professional reasons.

This source further elaborates on a probable move to Schalke being based partly down to the fact that the Bundesliga club is based just 100km from RTL, the TV station that Rafael Van der Vaart’s gorgeous wife Sylvie is employed by.
The Daily Mail state that the 29 year old is ‘heading out of White Hart Lane’, a decision that may have something to do with the North London club failing to secure a Champions League spot for the upcoming season, a spot that Schalke have themselves secured with a third place finish.
Harry Redknapp may be resigned to losing a star or two following Chelsea’s win at Allianz Arena and may feel that losing Rafael Van der Vaart is preferable to the exit of either Gareth Bale or Luka Modric.
The former Ajax and Real Madrid man has been hugely effective since his move to Tottenham back in August 2010. The Dutch international has become a pivotal part of Redknapp’s attacking plans, notching up a very healthy total of 24 goals from 61 Premier League appearances as well as a bucket-load of assists.
