Spanish source Sport are this morning reporting that Arsene Wenger is tracking Barcelona youngster Isaac Cuenca with a view to launching a bid for the €10m (£8m) rated Spaniard.
The 21 year old winger, like many other up and coming talents, may feel that leaving the Nou Camp is the best way to achieve career progression with a number of others players already ahead of Cuenca in the Barcelona first team pecking order a move to the Premier League may prove tempting.
Pep Guardiola offered Cuenca a bit part role last term though the Catalonia born wide-man did rack up 30 appearances in all competitions a great many of those came from the bench. That said the Spanish Under 21 international wasn’t out of his depth as he notched up four goals and eight assists during the campaign.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is of course well known for his ability to make the most of youthful potential and may feel the need to bring in alternative attacking options, especially if the Gunners manager decides to offload Andrei Arshavin this summer, with the Russian spending half of last term on loan at Russian Premier League champions Zenit.
New Barcelona boss Tito Vilanova will be loathed to lose Cuenca, who is under contract until 2015, and may well fight off any bid from the North London club.
