Frank Lampard ruled out of England’s Euro 2012 squad
Frank Lampard is out of England’s Euro 2012 campaign with a thigh injury suffered in training on Wednesday.
The news was confirmed after the Chelsea midfielder, 33, was examined by medical staff after a scan.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson will be called into the squad, subject to agreement from Uefa’s medical team.
“It’s a huge blow for the team, especially coming after the loss of another senior player in Gareth Barry,” said manager Roy Hodgson.

This is not good news for England’s Euro 2012 chances. Having lost Gareth Barry, and replaced the Man City man with Everton defender Phil Jagielka, Roy Hodgson now sees Frank Lampard ruled out with a thigh injury and then see that issue compounded by the decision to call-up Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson.
The former Sunderland man has had a shockingly bad first season at the Merseyside club but now somehow finds himself rewarded with a spot in England’s Euro 2012 finals squad.
Man United’s Michael Carrick could well feel very disappointed he didn’t get the nod in Hodgson’s initial 23 man selection.
