MANCHESTER UNITED will complete the signing of Japanese star Shinji Kagawa next week.
United have agreed a fee with Borussia Dortmund of around £14m, which may rise to £20m depending on appearances and add-ons.
Kagawa, 23, is on international duty with Japan – who face World Cup home qualifiers against Oman and Jordan over the next week – and has been unable to discuss terms.
But the attacking midfielder is expected to agree a five-year contract worth £60,000 a week when he returns to Manchester for further talks.

It seems that with every story covering the ‘imminent’ move Shinji Kagawa is set to make from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, a couple more million are added to the tab. The 23 year old Japanese international has stated that he will leave his Bundesliga side and a move to Old Trafford is on the cards but one wonders just how much Sir Alex Ferguson will end up paying for the talented attacker.
Even a fee of £20m, which is fairly steep for a player with just a year left on his contract, is money well spent. The Kobe born attacking midfielder has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to back to back domestic titles in his two seasons at the club but Borussia Dortmund were unable it seems to retain his services, much as they failed to keep Nuri Sahin last summer before he left for Real Madrid.
Kagawa notched up 29 goals and 15 assists over the past two seasons and it’s that creativity and end product that Ferguson is looking to add to his squad. At present the likes of Michael Carrick, Darren Fletcher and Anderson do not offer such attributes and Borussia Dortmund man will helpfully link midfield and attack, most probably in a role behind the club’s strikers.
