We have taken a look at the lengthy list of Premier League players released this summer by their domestic clubs. With over 1300 international caps between them there is a gem or two in there for bosses from the Premier League, Championship or those indulging in a bit of Football Manager 2013.
There are some surprising names on the released list including former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy who orchestrated Martin Jol’s side last term, allowing Clint Dempsey to move further forward with Moussa Dembele slotting into a deeper role than normal.
One set of supporters I’d imagine will be relatively pleased with a player departing will be Aston Villa fans. 34-year-old Emile Heskey has been released by Villa after just 15 goals in 111 games.
Relegated clubs Bolton, Blackburn and Wolves will have to do without some experienced players as they look to bounce back to the top-flight at the first time of asking. The pick of the relegated bunch is most likely Bolton’s top scorer Ivan Klasnic who bagged 8 goals from 16 starts.
