A number of respected sources, including the two above, are stating that Dutch international Dirk Kuyt, who is currently with his national team in preparation for the Euro 2012 finals, has left Liverpool for Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
The 31 year old found himself increasingly used as a bit-part player last term as new signing Jordan Henderson pushed the former Feyenoord out of Liverpool’s first team on the right hand side of the midfield, making a number of appearances from the bench towards the end of the campaign.
Perhaps Kuyt felt the time was right to leave the club as new Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers may well be looking to trust more to youth. The hard working attacker will enjoy Champions League football with Fenerbahce after they finished second in the Turkish Super Lig having lost the title in dramatic circumstances in the last game of the campaign against arch rivals Galatasaray.
Kuyt notched up 275 appearances for Liverpool since his £9m move back in August 2006, netting 71 goals in the process, many of which were indeed timely and crucial.
