Koscielny suggests that he would like to see the 21-year-old join him in north London and that he would be a useful addition to Arsene Wenger’s squad.
“I don’t know what plans the club have in terms of signings,” he told Goal.com. “I only see what appears in the newspapers because Wenger tells us nothing about that. But I would like one of my French team-mates to join us for next season.
“Yann is a player with enormous quality. He is strong on the ball and has great vision. He can triumph in an important competition like the Premier League.
“Would he be good at Arsenal? Of course.
“I will try to convince him to come when we are together at the Euros.”
Well perhaps the personal touch will have the desired effect? Yann M’Vila has been linked with a move away from Rennes for some time and has been strongly linked with a move to Arsenal but as yet no deal has been struck but that hasn’t stopped Laurent Koscielny from publicly offering his services as a match-maker between the player and the North London club.
Arsene Wenger may well feel that his Gunners side could do with another steely presence, not least because Alex Song has become a more offensively minded player over the past 12 months, and M’Vila has shown a great deal of potential in recent seasons.
The 21 year old will be a crucial member of Laurent Blanc’s Euro 2012 side, in fact probably far more likely to feature in the French starting eleven than Koscielny, and he has certainly outgrown Rennes.
On the subject of Koscielny, the former Lorient man has gone from strength to strength at Arsenal after a distinctly average first season at the North London club, now the determined centre back is a pivotal member of Wenger’s defensive plans.
