Barton bailed after arrest on suspicion of affray over alleged 5.30am fight outside Liverpool nightclub
Joey Barton was released by the police after being arrested for his alleged role in a brawl outside a Liverpool nightclub.
The 29-year-old Queens Park Rangers midfielder was involved in a violent altercation with two men outside Garlands in Liverpool city centre as dawn broke on Monday morning.
Merseyside Police confirmed Barton had been arrested on suspicion of affray for his role in the incident and was released after questioning. Sportsmail understands QPR officials were unaware of Barton’s arrest until late on Monday night.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police said: ‘Following an altercation in Eberle Street in the early hours of this morning, four men have been arrested on suspicion of affray.

So it appears that every story has two sides. Yesterday it was revealed that Joey Barton had been attacked and two 21 year old’s were arrested in relation to the incident and the QPR midfielder had stated he had no intention of pressing charges.
Now however it appears things have progressed and following the arrest of Barton’s attackers the QPR midfielder has now been arrested and bailed in relation to the alleged assault.
Joey Barton had taken to Twitter to state that he had been ‘sucker punched’ but could there be more to this incident than first meets the eye? Is there a chance that the 29 year old had been the aggressor in the incident at the Liverpool nightclub in the early hours of Monday morning.
