Newcastle sensation Papiss Cisse has snubbed interest from Manchester United and Man City and insisted he wants to stay at Newcastle ‘for many years’.
The Senegalese striker has proved a revelation on Tyneside after his £10 million move from German club Frieburg in January, scoring 13 goals in 14 appearances, including the goal of the season against Chelsea last month.
His form alerted Manchester giants United and City but the 27-year-old told Sky Sports he is happy to stay at St James and plans to fire Newcastle into the Champions League next season.
“I am very happy in Newcastle and I want to stay there for many years,” Cisse said.
“I am looking forward to next season. We were close to a Champions League position so next season hopefully we will qualify for that and everyone will taste the Champions League,” he added.
Meanwhile, Cisse’s striker partner and compatriot Demba Ba remains a target for London duo Chelsea and Tottenham. Ba’s £7 million release clause can now be activated by potential suitors.
