Argentine midfielder Lucas Biglia claims to have held talks with Arsenal about a possible move to north London this summer.
The 26-year-old has just captained Anderlecht to a second straight Belgian league title and is attracting interest from a host of top European sides.
Biglia, who has won six caps for his country, still has three years to run on his deal with Anderlecht but a bid in the region of £8m could persuade them to part with their prize asset.
“Real Madrid and Arsenal have both been in contact,”
“I am still under contract with Anderlecht until 2015 but they know that I plan to leave.
“If a club offers the right price, Anderlecht will let me go.”

Well one would wonder if £8m would be considered ‘the right price’ in today’s transfer market. The Anderlecht man has been in fine form over the past couple of seasons, resulting in a call-up to the Argentine national team some six years after he represented his country at Under 20 level.
Whilst Lucas Biglia is a talented midfielder one would have to wonder if he would be an improvement on the many central midfield options the club has to call upon. The 26 year old former Independiente man can be considered a defensive midfielder but he is by no means an ‘enforcer’ who’s only job is to stifle opposition advances.
Arsene Wenger may feel that Alex Song has become a move complete midfielder and less reliable as a tough tackler and therefore a move for added steel would make sense but Biglia isn’t really THAT type of player.
Arsenal have the likes of the aforementioned Song, Mikel Arteta, Aaron Ramsey, Abou Diaby, Tomas Rosicky, Jack Wilshere, Emmanuel Frimpong as well as fringe youngsters Henri Lansbury and Frances Coquelin as central midfield options so one would have to wonder where the Argentine would fit into Wenger’s thinking.
