According to multiple sources, including Al-Jazeera and Paddy Power, Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.
Giroud is currently with the French squad at the Euro 2012 finals having enjoyed a prolific season during which he finished top scorer in Ligue 1, helping his side to a maiden domestic title. There has been a great deal of speculation surrounding the 25 year old’s future and some sources have stated that the deal to bring the striker to North London could see Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh going in the opposite direction.
Should Giroud move to Arsenal then it may perhaps lead some to believe that Robin Van Persie may well leave the Emirates Stadium. The Dutch international is yet to sign a new contract and with Lukas Podolski already signed by Arsene Wenger perhaps he is looking to the Frenchman to replace his goal machine skipper?
