NEWCASTLE UNITED are ready to wrap up a £6million deal for Ajax defender Vurnon Anita.
The two clubs have agreed a move and Anita, 23, (above) who has three Holland caps, looks set to join Toon at the end of the month.
A switch is likely to mean Danny Simpson moving on, with QPR and West Ham both interested.
Tottenham and Newcastle are preparing moves for FC Twente’s rising Dutch star Luuk de Jong, 21, after Euro 2012.

By all accounts Alan Pardew is also leading Tottenham in the race for Luuk de Jong, though Newcastle United fans will hope that moves for the Dutch striker are not in lieu of a possible sale of Demba Ba this summer.
The Magpies surprised many with their fifth place finish last term and the St James’ Park side were unlucky not to secure a Champions League spot having been there or thereabouts throughout the campaign. Many had predicted that Pardew’s side would struggle following the loss of Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan, Joey Barton and Jose Enrique over the previous 18 months but the Toon Army excelled despite the loss of the first team quartet.
21 year old Swiss born Dutch international De Jong finished last term 32 goals in all competitions, helping him to secure a spot in Bert Van Marwijk’s Euro 2012 squad. If Pardew managed to snap up the youngster AND keep the aforementioned Ba and Papiss Cisse then Newcastle United would have some excellent forward options.
Vurnon Anita appears likely to be a like for like replacement for Danny Simpson, who is still yet to get a new deal. The 23 year old Ajax man can also play as a defensive midfielder and has helped his Amsterdam side to back to back Eredivisie titles.
