Spurs monitoring Italian.
Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in signing relegated Villareal striker Guiseppe Rossi, despite sacking manager Harry Redknapp yesterday.
The North London club saw a bid for Rossi rejected by the Yellow Submarine last summer and the Italian subsequently suffered a serious knee injury that ruled him out for over 10 months.
In his absence, Villareal endured a miserable campaign and were relegated from La Liga on the final day of the season, finishing 18th.
Rossi’s agent insisted this week that his now fit client will stay in Spain and fight for his place but it has emerged that Spurs are still keen to bring the 25-year-old to White Hart Lane this summer.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy dismissed Redknapp yesterday but the former Portsmouth boss did not have complete control over transfers at White Hart Lane and Levy remains interested in a cut-price deal for Rossi.
American-born Rossi had spells at Manchester United and on loan at Newcastle United and is thought to be open to a move back to the Premier League.
