Argentine set to sign for PSG.
Manchester City have missed out on top attacking target Ezequiel Lavezzi, with the forward claiming his arrival at Paris Saint Germain is now ‘a mere formality’.
The Argentina international has spent the last five seasons with Serie A side Napoli, where he has scored 38 times in 156 league appearances.
The speedy playmaker, who can play on the wing or as a support striker, has been courted by the world’s richest clubs, including City, PSG and Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala.
But PSG have won the race for his signature after agreeing an undisclosed deal with Napoli and reportedly offering around £200,000 a week to Lavezzi – making him the highest played played in France.
“I have not yet signed for PSG,” Lavezzi told canal-supporters.com.
“We have to set a date, but it is a mere formality.”
Roberto Mancini’s agent admitted this month that City were keen on Lavezzi but, with UEFA keeping a close eye on financial fair play, the Sky Blues balked at the 27-year-old’s wage demands, leaving PSG able to swoop.
