Netherlands international on Fergie’s radar.
Manchester United are tracking 18-year-old Dutch left-sider Jetro Willems.
The PSV full-back became the youngest player to feature in the European Championship when he started for the Netherlands against Denmark on 9 June but endured a torrid tournament, as the Dutch lost all three group games and crashed out.
Willems struggled at left-back, receiving bookings against the Danes and Portugal and being run-ragged by an expansive Germany side in between.
But United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been tracking Willems since last year and the Scot believes he is a future star in the making.
Willems has only made 20 league appearances for PSV – scoring once – and signed a new contract with the Dutch Champions in April that should keep him with the Eredivisie club until 2016.
Ferguson does not believe Willems is ready to go straight into United’s first team and has target Leighton Baines of Everton as a direct replacement for the ageing Patrice Evra.
The Old Trafford club may still move for the Netherlands international this summer, with Ferguson ready to offer him out on a season long loan to a host of Premier League clubs.
