Could the Slovakian international be tempted by a move to the big spending Dagestan based side? Given that Liverpool slumped to their worst top flight finish in over 50 years and then axed Kenny Dalglish there may well be some scope for believing that the Anfield side’s top performers may be considering their futures.
However perhaps the arrival of young up and coming boss Brendan Rodgers to the Merseyside club offers a chance for a new era to blossom and with that in mind the 27 year old tough tackler may wish to stick around to see how things pan out.
Skrtel is Liverpool’s most effective defensive weapon, not least because his usual central defensive partners, Daniel Agger and Jamie Carragher are injury prone and nearing the end of their career respectively. Rodgers may well be looking to rectify this issue by bringing in back-up options or may well look to give young Uruguayan Sebastien Coates a sustained run in the first team.
Guus Hiddink’s Anzhi side failed to secure a Champions League berth for the coming season and therefore may struggle to bring in big names to line-up alongside Samuel Eto’o, Christopher Samba Yuri Zhirkov and co but they can seemingly offer salaries above and beyond just about every other side in Europe.
