AC Milan are considering a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina.
The Italian giants are looking to rebuild their squad after losing their Serie A title to Juventus last month.
Incumbent Milan No 1 Christian Abbiati turns 35 this summer and although he enjoys cult status at the club, Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri was not convinced by his performances last season.
Reina is settled on Merseyside but a club of Milan’s stature may prove persuasive with Liverpool in another stage of transition.

Pepe Reina is certainly Liverpool’s most consistent performer of recent years and is definitely a player that Brendan Rodgers will look to keep from leaving this summer. The Spanish keeper has been a mainstay at the Anfield side since his arrival back in the summer of 2005 and one can see why AC Milan would be looking to replace veteran Abbiati with the 29 year old goalie.
However AC Milan’s behaviour in relation to their advances to capture Alberto Aquilani has been such that the San Siro side may be the one club Liverpool will avoid selling Reina to, if they were ever to consider such a sale that is.
Reina has racked up over 350 appearances for Liverpool since his move from Villarreal, barely missing a Premier League match in the process but the fact that his Merseyside club has seemingly moved further from regaining a spot in the top four may well make the Madrid born keeper consider his options.
Perhaps the Spaniard would feel that a high profile move could help him to oust Iker Casillas as national team number one, something he has been attempting for the best part of seven years.
