St James’ Park winger on Emirates Stadium radar.
Arsenal to beat Chelsea for Newcastle star
Hatem Ben Arfa prefers a move to Emirates than Stamford Bridge

According to the Daily Mail Arsenal would need to offer at least £18m to beat Chelsea in the race for in-form French winger Hatem Ben Arfa and perhaps such a move is not implausible given that Arsene Wenger was constantly linked with the attacker when he was at Marseille.
Ben Arfa returned from long term injury with great effect last term showing consistency that landed him a spot in Laurent Blanc’s Euro 2012 squad. If the French international is indeed interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium then Wenger may well see the 25 year old as a possible replacement for Theo Walcott, who is yet to sign a new contract and has just a year left to run on his current deal.
Alan Pardew must worry that his side’s great display last term could lead to his top talents being snapped up by interested parties and with Mike Ashley being the type of owner who wouldn’t say no to a big bid, as evidenced with the sales of Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique to Liverpool, perhaps this story has some mileage.
Though Arsenal have a number of wide options the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Ryo Miyaichi may still be too raw for a regular Premier League berth. Theo Walcott is supremely inconsistent, Gervinho is on the whole very wasteful and Andrei Arshavin may push to remain at Zenit, where he spent half of last season on loan.
Maybe this leaves room for Hatem Ben Arfa?
