Roberto Mancini has fewer more important members of his Man City squad than Spaniard David Silva and the Italian is unlikely to consider offers for the former Valencia man. That said, this is a fairly stunning bid on the table and one that shows just how desperate Jose Mourinho is to land the assist-machine.
David Silva has racked up 102 appearances in two astonishingly effective seasons at Man City, picking up 14 goals and 37 assists as he helped Mancini’s side to an FA Cup triumph in his first campaign and a Premier League crown in the second.
Man City’s entire attacking ethos revolves around the work that Silva does to link midfield to Mancini’s strike-force and last term the 26 year old tormented defences up and down the country with pin point passing executed with panache by a player at the top of his game.
Mourinho appears to want to land Silva, even though Mesut Ozil has done an excellent job in a similar role at Real Madrid, and is willing to offer Gonzalo Higuin into the bargain. Perhaps Mancini would be interested in bringing in the Argentine, who last term netted 26 goals despite only starting 28 matches.
