Emirates Stadium side target Atletico Madrid forward.
Spanish source AS claims that Arsenal are readying a bid for Atletico Madrid striker Adrian Lopez. The North London side are said to have offered £10m for the 24 year old but that the Basque side are looking to secure a fee in the region of £14.5m as they prepare to listen to offers for the Spanish international.
If Arsene Wenger is indeed plotting a move for the former Deportivo La Coruna man it would perhaps spell the end of Robin Van Persie’s Arsenal career. The Dutch international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium and with Lukas Podolski already snapped up and Olivier Giroud set to join the German at the North London club it would appear plausible that a third striker signing would mean that the Gunners boss is preparing for life without his skipper.
Though Lopez managed just seven goals in 35 La Liga appearances last term, acting largely as a provider for giant forward Radamel Falcao, the intelligent forward did manage 11 goals in Europa League action as the Vicente Calderon side won the tournament.
Perhaps Wenger is looking to form a new look three pronged strike force, which could be how the Frenchman looks to implement his new signings. Podolski and Lopez can both play in wide attacking roles and with that in mind Giroud may be seen as a possible target man leading the line.
