Interest in Dane is ‘global’ says agent.
Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is close to leaving the Emirates, with interest in the forward ‘overwhelming’ according to his agent.
Denmark’s Bendtner attracted mixed headlines during his country’s brave Euro 2012 campaign, scoring an impressive double against Portugal but celebrating the second with a publicity stunt that earned him a £200,000 fine from UEFA.
The 24-year-old is set to leave Arsenal this summer after falling down the pecking order at the Emirates. He spent last season on loan at Sunderland but his agent, Jesper Lynghus, says there is now ‘global’ interest in Bendtner following his displays in Poland and Ukraine.
“We are getting closer day by day,” he told bold.dk. “The interest is overwhelming, just as it should be after the way Nicklas performed at Euro 2012.”
Lynghus refused to confirm or deny reports linking mega-rich Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala with a move for his client, adding, “We’re not commenting on individual deals at the moment, but it’s fair to say the interest in Nicklas is global.”
