Ibrox side’s future looks bleak.
Rangers set to be denied entry to SPL after Hibs confirm plan to vote no
Hibernian have become the latest club to confirm they will vote against newco Rangers’ application for entry to the Scottish Premier League.
The Edinburgh side cited sporting integrity as the driving factor behind the decision, which was reached at a board meeting on Sunday night, despite the financial implications for the club.
Hibs join city rivals Hearts and Dundee United in going public with their plans to reject the Rangers bid.

This doesn’t bode well for Rangers and it appears that the SPL’s decision to name the Glasgow side as ‘Club 12’ in the 2012/13 fixture list was indeed a forward thinking act. One wonders where the Ibrox club’s future lies. Will they be demoted to the Scottish second tier? Will they look to book a place in the English league pyramid? Or will they cease to exist at all?
A number of Rangers players have refused to sign ‘newco’ contracts and high profile pair Ibrox duo Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker are looking to secure moves away from the club this summer.
