White Hart Lane winger commits to North London club.
The Club is delighted to announce that Gareth Bale has signed a new four-year contract, committing his future to the Club until 2016.
On signing his new deal, Gareth said: “I’ve been here for five years now and I’ve enjoyed every minute. The fans have been great to me and I’d love to re-pay them and do the very best for them. The Club is progressing and I want to be a part of that, so it was great to get the deal done.
“I love the Club and the fans and I want to play my part in trying to get us back into the Champions League – where we belong. We’ve a good, young squad and we need to work together to get back on the biggest stage again.”

This is great news for Tottenham fans who may have been concerned about whether Gareth Bale would be picked off by a prospective buyer given the North London club’s inability to secure a Champions League berth. The Welsh international has consistently tried to distance himself from speculation about a possible move away from White Hart Lane but even then it’s only natural for the club’s supporters to fear such a talented player would be lured away.
The 22 year old has put in two solid seasons and is now one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League and it does appear that interest from both Barcelona and Real Madrid is genuine and chairman Daniel Levy has done well to tie down the wide-man to a new deal.
However this may well lead many to believe that talk of Luka Modric bidding farewell to Tottenham is on the cards. The Croatian international has been strongly linked with a possible move to either Chelsea or Real Madrid.
Perhaps Levy had decided to relent to Modric’s pleas in the knowledge that club’s other most prized asset, Bale, was staying put.
