FIFA have given the green light for goal-line technology to be used in the Club World Cup in Japan in December.
If the technology proves successful then it will be used during the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2014 World Cup.
The Premier League instantly announced that goal-line technology could be introduced half-way through the coming Premier League season.
Some commentators are dubbing the rule change ‘Lampard’s Law’ after it was the Chelsea’s midfielder’s mistakenly ruled out goal against Germany at the 2010 World Cup that reportedly persuaded FIFA President Sepp Blatter to change his stance on the introduction of technology.
