Upton Park side chase Serie A duo.
Dejan Stankovic and Luc Castaignos lined up for West Ham switch
West Ham have opened talks with Inter Milan over deals for Dejan Stankovic and Luc Castaignos, as manager Sam Allardyce continues his summer squad overhaul.
Hammers boss Allardyce is desperate to bring in some much needed quality and experience ahead of the new season, after guiding West Ham back into the big time.
The club have already brought in out-of-contract duo Jussi Jaaskelainen and Mohamed Diame, but Allardyce wants up to four more new faces, and will ramp up the recruitment process this week.
West Ham boss Sam Allardyce is certainly setting the bar high as he sets his sights on numerous star turns he wishes to bring in to beef up his Upton Park squad following their return to the top flight. The East London side are said to be close to signing former Real Madrid legend Guti and now they are looking to bring in this Inter Milan pair.
Serbian veteran Dejan Stankovic is a cult hero at the San Siro but it seems that the Serie A giants are looking to reverse the ageing nature of their squad, hence the apparent moves to offload both Diego Forlan and Maicon, among others. The adaptable midfielder still has a lot to offer and would be a very experienced and able performer in the English top tier.
Luc Castaignos was tipped to be a big success when at Feyenoord but since his move to Inter Milan the Dutch youngster has failed to make an impact but a move to West Ham may well be on loan rather than a permanent basis as Andrea Stramaccioni is unlikely to be looking to sell a player with obvious potential.
