Frenchman heading back to the Premier League?
Nicolas Anelka seeks Premier League return as China adventure turns sour
Nicolas Anelka is plotting an instant return to the Premier League after his relationship with Shanghai Shenhua soured, following an angry spat with a fan.
The news has spread rapidly in China, and there are now calls of a range of sanctions to be brought against the player, including being stripped of the captaincy and fined wages.
But Anelka may not be around much longer to accept punishment, as he is reported to be preparing for a return to the Premier League with West Ham and QPR interested.
Shanghai would be willing to accept offers in the region of £5 million.
By all accounts Nicolas Anelka has upset a fair few people with his unwillingness to bow to the club’s fans after a recent defeat, a faux pas that was compounded when an angry fan approached the French veteran only to be told by the Shanghai Shenhua that he ‘didn’t care’.
This could all very well lead to the 33 year old being hounded out of the club and perhaps back to the Premier League, hence the apparent interest shown by both QPR and West Ham, two sides who have spent the summer looking to pick up experienced pros to help in their attempts to retain their top flight status.
Anelka joined Shanghai Shenhua in January and the club has since acquired the services of his former Blues team-mate Didier Drogba, so perhaps they feel they can afford to lose the troublesome forward who is of course well known for angering his team-mates and employers with his apparent ‘arrogant’ attitude.
