Winger signs contract extension.
Arsenal and Liverpool target Younes Belhanda has snubbed interest from the Premier League giants and signed a contract extension with the French club.
Belhanda is now set to remain with the Ligue 1 Champions until at least 2015 after putting pen to paper over the weekend, reports France Football.
The 22-year-old is one of the most highly-rated prospects in France and helped Montpellier to an unexpected title with 12 goals and 4 assists in the league last season, predominantly from the wing.
The Morocco international was being tracked by both Chelsea and Arsenal, and Manchester City also made enquiries earlier in the summer.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has long-admired Belhanda and is in the market for a new winger this summer, with Andrey Arshavin set to join Zenit St Petersburg and Theo Walcott stalling over a new contract.
Liverpool have also shown an interest in Belhanda and new manager Brendan Rogers is keen to add creativity and flair to the Anfield side’s midfield.
Both clubs may now up their efforts to win the race for Wigan’s Victor Moses. The 21-year-old former Crystal Palace star is also wanted by Chelsea.
